HEAP (Holistic Experimental Agriculture Plot) is dedicated to creating knowledge about sustainable agriculture practices and designing a maximally-producing garden. Our findings and the final HEAP design will be shared on this website.

HEAP Research
Holistic Experimental Agriculture Plot (HEAP) is at the forefront of agricultural research, focusing on sustainable practices and innovative gardening techniques. Our research aims to optimize crop yield, enhance soil health, and promote biodiversity. By conducting experiments on such subjects as plant spacing, branching techniques, and harvesting methods, we gather valuable data to inform best practices. The findings from HEAP contribute to scientific knowledge through our intended journal publications. For farmers and gardeners, the findings provide practical solutions through our yearly-updated HEAP design. Our commitment to research ensures that HEAP continues to lead in the development of environmentally friendly and highly productive agricultural systems.

Results
The results of our experiments will be available here when ready. Reports and spreadsheets concerning this year's experiments will be posted around November 1st, 2024.
Publications
Links to our academic journal publications will be available here. We have no estimate about a timeline for this.
HEAP Development
HEAP Development as a Model Garden: The Holistic Experimental Agriculture Plot (HEAP) is designed as a dual-purpose model garden, comprising both an experimental garden and a results-implementation garden. The experimental garden serves as a testing ground for various sustainable practices, including plant spacing, branching techniques, and harvesting methods. Findings from these experiments are then applied in the results-implementation garden to create a maximally productive and sustainable growing environment. This iterative process allows HEAP to continually refine its practices, providing a living demonstration of effective, environmentally friendly agriculture that benefits both researchers and practitioners. Note that, iin our first year, the results-implementation garden does not exist yet, as it would serve no purpose.
The yearly-updated HEAP model garden design will be available here when ready. We anticipate the first version being available in the spring of 2026.
